Dr. Vermani - MV Psychological ServicesAt MV Psychological Services, Dr. Monica Vermani is a clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to adolescents and adults suffering from trauma/abuse, mood, anxiety, substance addictions and other related conditions/disorders. Dr. Vermani often works with clients who require multifaceted treatment approaches that range from marriage/family counseling, chronic pain management, self-esteem/assertiveness enhancement, to vocational counseling, skill development and professional coaching. She also conducts outpatient/inpatient psychological, vocational and forensic assessments.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Vermani works as a clinical psychologist at the Toronto General Hospital, Lyndhurst Rehabilitation Institute, for brain and spinal cord injury patients. Here, her responsibilities include crisis intervention and suicide, pain, mood and anxiety management. She also does similar work on a part-time basis with Correctional Service of Canada (Fenbrook and Beaver Creek Institutions).

She is a teacher for breath~body~mind therapy courses offered to the military population at Fort Drum, 9’11 responders in New York City and war veterans in Watertown, New York.

Prior to MV Psychological Services, Dr. Vermani worked as a clinical psychologist at the Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, Rehabilitation and Treatment (START) Clinic in Toronto. As well, she has worked at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH) for many years within the Mood & Anxiety Disorders Clinic (Clarke site) and at the METFORS forensic unit (Queen Street site). She also has a depth of experience working with forensic populations in Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) with female offenders (Vanier Centre for Women) and with male sex offenders (Keele & Annette CSC).

Near and dear to her heart, and that which she weaves into her daily practice, Dr. Vermani is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher and provides mindfulness based stress reduction/mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBSR/MBCT) training, individually and in groups.

Dr. Vermani received her doctor of psychology in clinical psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (#4998). Dr. Vermani has taught at a number of colleges and was an adjunct professor at Lakehead University. She is also a certified coach practitioner and an assaulted women’s and children’s counselor/advocate (AWCCA). Furthermore, she has published various research journal articles and manuscripts in the areas of trauma/abuse, forensic psychology, as well as attention deficit disorder (ADD), mood and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Vermani is an avid believer in paying it forward in the community and as such, has been part of many volunteer projects worldwide. She offers her services as a crisis and rehabilitation worker for Team Canada, Healing Hands in Haiti, and, she works close to home with a Toronto organization for abused women and children and facilitates many fundraising projects to raise awareness and financially support such causes.
